impcat (short for Interactive Miniature Painting Catalogue) is a specialized simulator designed for achieving photorealistic painting results on gaming and tabletop miniatures.
This tool offers a diverse collection of miniature images featuring individually customizable body sections. Users have the ability to paint these miniatures using their existing colour selections or explore new options for purchase. The system operates with predefined color palettes, in accordance with manufacturers' designated names and values.
To ensure superior results, the system follows a meticulously structured four-step painting process: Base coloring, layering, shading, and highlighting.

- A selection of 6 preloaded miniatures from Artel "W," each comprising nearly 30 individually paintable sections
- Access to a range of built-in color palettes, with additional options available from the DLC server (providing access to around 1000 paints and expanding)

- Access to an expanding online library of complimentary DLCs (full list available at impcat.de/about).
- An automated color complement recommendation feature that simplifies the process by suggesting relevant layer, shade, and highlight paints based on a selected base color, with customizable options
- A lifelike simulation of the painted results
- A shopping list generator that compiles all applied colors and offers direct links to corresponding shop pages
- Save and load functions for storing customized color configurations
- A tool for creating opaque and metallic paints in any desired color
- A color mixing tool to experiment with different paint mixtures
- A randomizer for generating color scheme ideas by distributing a set of colors randomly across the miniature model
